About DR Mahir Mustafa Abdel Aziz Hamad

Dr. Mahir Mustafa Abdel Aziz Hamad is a highly respected Consultant Physician and Clinical Director for Acute Medicine at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. With esteemed qualifications including FRCP (London), FRCPSG, and FRCPI, he has been one of the UK’s pioneers in acute medicine. Dr. Hamad’s work has led to significant innovations in the Acute Admissions Unit, earning him the prestigious Hospital Doctor: Acute Medicine Team of the Year Award in 2004.

He is also a dedicated educator, serving as an Honorary Lecturer and Associate Dean for the Northern Deanery. Dr. Hamad established clinical teaching programs for trainees and hosts the largest MRCP PACES examination centre in the UK. In 2017, he was honoured as the inaugural MRCP PACES Champion by the Royal College of Physicians.

For over 15 years, Dr. Hamad has organised charity medical convoys to Sudan, providing vital healthcare to those in need.
